After completing a graduate at the ICHEC, Eric Hemeleers obtains his degree in commercial engineering at the UCL. After strengthening his diploma working as a financial adviser with AXA/Winterthur in Brussels, Eric Hemeleers relocates to Marche-en-Famenne, where he takes up a position of production assistant at Arias International, a furniture manufacturer. Several years’ experience later, Eric Hemeleers begins work in the pharmaceutical industry with the Union ChimiqueBelge before working as a consultant for financial service providers Price Waterhouse Coopers.

In 1998, Eric Hemeleers started working for his family firm Léon Eeckman SA, an insurance brokerage firm specialising in insuring works of arts. For the past 11 years, Eric Hemeleers has pursued the family tradition: championing arts and culture. Under his impulse, the firm, which he now co-directs with his brother Marc, supports numerous art projects and was awarded a Caïus Prize on two occasions.

In parallel to his professional activities, Eric Hemeleers boasts membership to various cultural, artistic or museum institutions and is part of the board of directors of several charities. He presidesProméthéa, a non-profit organisation supporting cultural and heritage preservation projects through enterprises. The father of four children, Eric Hemeleers chairs the Parent Association of his sons’ school parent committee. Author and painter, he has written Guide en matière d’assurances à l’intention des musées et centre d’art published by the MAC (Musée d’Art Contemporain, Grand Hornu, Belgique).
